DeLand Neighborhoods
Glenwood: Lake Woodruff and Lake Dexter are the shining stars of this northwest suburban neighborhood. If you prefer the great outdoors to being close to major roads, then this is the place for you.
DeLand Highlands: Close to the Daytona Speedway.
West DeLand: Not surprisingly, this nabe is on the west side of town. Just north of Blue Spring State Park.
North DeLand: One of the oldest neighborhoods in DeLand, so expect historic homes turned into small apartment buildings dripping with charm and character. But, you'll also find apartment complexes built in the 1970s and 80s that haven't really been updated since then. Luckily, though, the rent prices haven't really been updated for years either.
Life in DeLand
DeLand and the rest of the county are serviced by Voltran, which is not a 90s era cartoon character but a public transportation system. It'll take to you to major points of interest in neighboring towns. But if you have a more specific location in mind or a destination that’s not along the main roads, you may want to bring your car or a bicycle.
DeLand takes great pride in its downtown district, which has been voted the best Main Street in Florida for five years. With its combination of small businesses and great attractions, there’s little wonder of that. Those in search of something to do at night can go to the Athens Theater downtown, which showcases everything from classic films to community plays. Along the streets of downtown you’ll find a “mural walk,” a collection of intricate murals depicting the town’s history and the visions of its founder. Some of the artists even included small games and challenges to make your walk even more interesting. You’ll also find a collection of art museums, a naval air station museum and art festivals that are held throughout the year.
