Carrboro Apartment Renter's Guide
Carrboro Apartment Renter's Guide
Overview
"So Carrboro woman, won't you walk with me? There's someplace I have to go and I don't want to go alone. And if what you want ain't where I'll be; then my love, I'll understand. You ain't my woman and woman - I am not your man." (- Eric Bachmann, "Carrboro Woman.")
Carrboro, North Carolina, began as a stop on the railroad for persons going to the University of North Carolina. It has grown in population and reputation and is now referred to as the "Paris of the Piedmont" and the "Seattle of the South." While either of these comparisons might be a bit bold, you can find a great coffee and a decent croissant. Truthfully, it's a progressive enclave that's just down the road from Mayberry, but with both feet planted in the future. Rental properties in Carrboro are envied for the nice living environment, but with so many choices, there are nice places available.

The Hippies Got it Right
Carrboro is anchored by a co-op market. The high concentration of art shops and galleries, restaurants that go from down-home to trendy, and a nationally recognized music venue keep things interesting. The town of about 20,000 is part of the greater Raliegh-Durham area and is a favorite home to high-tech workers and university professors. The PTA runs a thrift shop that returns more than a million dollars a year back to area schools. The Farmer's Market is ranked among the top ten in the United States. It might go without saying that all that darn socialism might make rents higher. You will be pleasantly surprised to find that the housing costs aren't that high.
Making the Move
Median gross apartment rent for Carrboro is usually a bit lower than the rest of the country. That's quite reasonable for a community with so many reasons to live here. If you are considering a move to the Raliegh-Durham area, do yourself a favor and take a look at Carrboro. Choose from condos for rent that feature rooftop gardens and solar panels that reduce energy costs by at least 50 percent. Elegant homes and stylish townhouses around a pedestrian-oriented downtown offer urban living with charm. Even with a decent amount of availability, it's wise to start your search as soon as possible. It's a popular town to live in and the word, as the saying goes, is out.
